One way to liven up a pretty basic outfit, is to switch out blue jeans for a pair of printed jeans. I adore printed jeans, but they must be a flattering slim fit with a tapered bottom and comfortable with some stretch. Wearing a printed jean is an easy way to look fashion forward, without trying too hard. But the trick is knowing how to pull them off – stick with solid colors on top (preferably black or white), and wear a solid color shoe, whether it’s a heel, sandal or bootie. Stay away from knee high or mid calf length boots and other prints – unless you are purposely making a bold statement, but be careful you can quickly look like a hot mess.
I own many different pairs of printed jeans, but what makes the Betabrand Teal Two-Faced Britches so unique, is the front side is printed while the backside is a solid. I love that! As some have said, it’s a party in the front, business in the back (lovely mullet reference).
I have yet to see a printed floral pattern like the one on the Teal Two-Faced Britches, these are a bit more bold then I’ve seen but the solid teal color in the back is a really nice balance. I choose a 30″ inseam because I wanted these to be an ankle length pant (I am 5’9), and I like the way a slim pant looks tapered perfectly at the ankle. They are 100% cotton sateen in front and a subtly stretchy sateen (97% cotton, 3% spandex) in the back – so they will shrink a tad bit if washed on hot and dried. I actually tested this out because I wanted an even slimmer fit (these are a size 26) and they fit like a glove.
Since it is still summer (bay area Indian summer), I paired the pants with a taupe colored racer back tank from Splendid and Seychelles Coy Vachetta sandals (I thought it would be cool to have a 2 toned sandal on as well). Looking forward to adding a slouchy cream colored sweater and a pair of booties once the weather cools down a bit.
