Beauties and Bourbon

Last weekend my friend Mielle hosted a girls night out at Bourbon and Branch in San Francisco. The only requirements; dress in your best vintage attire and have a bourbon cocktail. Sounds like a fantastic evening to me.

My sister happens to be obsessed with vintage attire from the 40’s and/or new clothing that looks classic vintage. Luckily for me I’ve been thoroughly educated by her on how to pull off an evening look. This evenings attire included a cocktail dress from Stop Staring, one of my favorite boutiques in Los Angeles that specializes in vintage style clothing.

I hopped on Bart that evening and the looks I received from fellow riders were priceless. I knew I had done well but I didn’t realize how well until I was in public.

Bourbon and Branch was quite an experience. We were greeted with a non descript closed wooden door, Mielle pressed an intercom button and was required to give a password to enter (password was given when the reservation was made). Once inside the very darkly lit bar, we were seated in a wooden booth and given an extensive menu filled with at least 10 pages of drink options. There isn’t any type of food on the menu. This is strictly a place to drink.

2 cocktails and several fun conversations later, we headed towards another room which was accessible by a hidden door in a bookshelf. There I was able to pull out my Canon 20D and snap some photos.

Sadly I had to leave by 10p.m. as I was headed to a birthday party. I needed to quickly run home, brush out my curls and throw on some leather pants.

The next and last stop of the night was our friend Phil’s birthday party. The party was at his home loft which had a hip warehouse feel with cement flooring, exposed pipes and plenty of art work. His party was packed and complete with a DJ, dance floor and plenty of booze to keep the party going all night. Jason and I got jiggy with it and put our Dance Central moves to good use.
