Red Hot

There is something to be said about the color red; it’s known to stimulate energy, encourage confidence and provide a sense of protection. We see it everywhere from stop lights to Valentine’s Day cards; it is indeed a powerful color.

I’ve seen a lot of red clothing pop up lately in magazines and on fashion blogs. It’s catching on to be quite a popular color along with yellow for this summer. The only trick for wearing red, is knowing what shade of red compliments your skin tone.

I love wearing colored jeans, it’s an easy and fun way to spruce up any wardrobe. I saw these chili pepper red Domino jeans on sale for $25 (online) and was instantly drawn to the fit and color. I figured for such a low cost, I didn’t have much to lose in giving them a try.

Even though this wasn’t the red color I was expecting, (online these appeared to have more of an orange tone instead of blue) I decided to keep them anyway. The blue tone still looks stunning in person; it’s just not as vibrant as I was hoping for.

I paired the jeans with a silk dove printed top from Aryn K, a blue faux leather jacket from Forever 21, black Steve Madden Tobago sandals, white tired Matt & Nat hobo, Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Marc Jacobs spiked ring, silver bangles and 2 silver necklaces from Express.

I have to say for an amateur like me, I’ve been getting more creative at taking my own photos. It’s a lot more difficult than most people would think. I am not as lucky (as most of the popular fashion bloggers) to have a photographer boyfriend at my disposal 24/7. But I am lucky to have a wonderful photographer boyfriend who’s taught me how to use a camera and given me my own equipment. He’s the greatest!
