I am a basics kind of girl. I like simplicity with the right fit, style and a tad bit of edge. Everlane has become my favorite go-to brand for basic sweaters, sweatshirts and tees. Over the past couple of years, I started leaning more towards Everlane over American Apparel (I like the classic look and fit better). The only issue I have with Everlane is they run small batches, meaning items tend to sell out rather quickly. Continue reading Gray Area
I absolutely love this dress! Not only does it fit like a glove and screams I am ready for a fabulous time but it also has a funny story behind it that I will always remember.
While I was recently on vacation in Las Vegas, I spent 6 hours browsing The Fashion Show Mall. I only brought one clubbing outfit to Vegas thinking it would be fun to find a bedazzled outfit while I was there. (one word of advice, bring a backup outfit!) Just as I was about to give up (I tried on at least a dozen dresses), I decided to pop into the Juniors Prom section in Macy’s. In my defense, I was bored waiting for my friend to finish up in the fitting room. I wasn’t expecting to find anything, I was just curious to see what girls were wearing to the prom these days. To my surprise, one of the first things I picked up was this sequin one strap dress in a size small that also happened to be 70% off. Major score!
The purple suede Steve Madden pumps I had brought to Vegas ended up being a prefect accessory to this dress. I threw on a pair of stockings (mainly because of all the bruises on my legs from mountain biking), lots of blinging jewelery and voila! I am ready for a night out on the town.
These photos aren’t actually from Vegas. I was lucky to get a few of these extra shots from a photo shoot I was in this past weekend. In the shoot, I am basically a background model who’s attracted to a male wearing a smoking jacket (Hugh Hefner style). Once those photos are released, I will definitely post them!
Prom, the adult way.
There is something to be said about the color red; it’s known to stimulate energy, encourage confidence and provide a sense of protection. We see it everywhere from stop lights to Valentine’s Day cards; it is indeed a powerful color.
I’ve seen a lot of red clothing pop up lately in magazines and on fashion blogs. It’s catching on to be quite a popular color along with yellow for this summer. The only trick for wearing red, is knowing what shade of red compliments your skin tone.
I love wearing colored jeans, it’s an easy and fun way to spruce up any wardrobe. I saw these chili pepper red Domino jeans on sale for $25 (online) and was instantly drawn to the fit and color. I figured for such a low cost, I didn’t have much to lose in giving them a try.
Even though this wasn’t the red color I was expecting, (online these appeared to have more of an orange tone instead of blue) I decided to keep them anyway. The blue tone still looks stunning in person; it’s just not as vibrant as I was hoping for. Continue reading Red Hot
Lace, beige and fedoras. What’s not to like about this summers trends? I’ve already talked about how much I love lace, how beige or nude color clothing is in, and how hats (especially fedoras) are a must have accessory. So here is an example of those 3 must haves together in one fantastic, cool summer outfit. Continue reading 3 summer trends all wrapped up into one day
I can’t say this enough, silk tops are an absolute must have item of clothing in your closet. China silk is one of the less expensive and more commonly available silk fabrics. China silk is a lightweight, sheer, plain-weave fabric. It’s sometimes referred to as habutai, or habotai, or pongee. Continue reading Silk, silk, silk!
What I love about the Alice and Trixie collection is the pieces are very playful, colorful, and the fabrics are sensual. Everything I’ve ever tried on hangs and flows really well. After such a gloomy winter (first time in the Northwest), I needed a dress that screamed spring and felt fabulous.
If you haven’t read or seen this already, ruffles are in. And especially when it comes to purses. After seeing this purse in person, I just knew I absolutely had to have it. It screams girly girl with an edge. Continue reading Spring fashion accessory trend
